Pepperwood

Pepperwood manages a 3,200-acre biological reserve and the Dwight Center for Conservation Science. The reserve serves as a living laboratory hosting researchers from around the world, and has become a hub for ecological education and a conservation think tank.

WHAT WE DO

  • Inform Policy: Engage researchers and decision-makers in measuring and mapping the processes driving ecosystem change in order to develop adaptive policies that make our community more resilient as a whole.
  • Science-Based Solutions: Develop science-based solutions for reducing wildfire hazards, managing floods and droughts, advancing regenerative agriculture, and preventing wildlife extinction.
  • Collaborative Strategies: Mobilize a network of local and global NGO, government, and corporate partners to craft and implement strategies that promote human well-being, environmental health, and biodiversity.
  • Nature Education: Empower current and future generations to become more inclusive and effective conservation leaders by connecting people with the natural world through education, experiences, and art.
  • Conservation Investments: Maximize the environmental and economic return of financial investments in conservation while utilizing our 3,200-acre living laboratory as a testbed for the latest stewardship strategies.
  • Local for Global Impact: Located in one of the five Mediterranean regions in the world, Pepperwood is convening and partnering with global experts to inform and amplify our work in science and stewardship for global impact.
